Another black page of Colonia Dignidad has been opened

January 2, 2006
As a result of investigations carried out by the Chilean legal agencies as per the case of Paul Schaefer and other “chiefs” of ex-colony “Dignidad”, it has been established that they used tortures for children in the colony hospital.

German woman Gisela Seewald, a nurse, who is 75 now, for many years headed the hospital on the territory of the colony. According to the legal sources she was responsible for using electric shock to “disobedient” children who were also given strong psychotropic agents that suppress the will. First of all, such “treatment” was carried out by the hospital in respect of the children, who resisted to sexual assault form the side of “cruel uncle” as Paul Shaefer was called in the colony. Besides the children were subjected to long isolation. Gisela Seewald could not deny the presented accusations.

The German Colonia Dignidad (the latest name “Villa Baviera”) was founded by Paul Shaefer in 1961, when he left Germany to avoid the trial for rape of minors. 84 year old Sheafer has already been arrested by Chilean authorities. Solicitation to minors and abuse of human rights are the charges against him.
