The book about an outstanding intelligence agent Iosif Grigulevich. Author: Nil Nikandrov.
The Moscow publishing house "Molodaya Gvardia" has published a book by our permanent author Nil Nikandrov "Grigulevich. The agent with luck".

The book was published in the series "Life of remarkable people", for which the author of this narration himself used to write under under a pen-name of Lavretsky.

Iosif Romualdovich Grigulevich is an outstanding Soviet secret agent. Coming from a humble Lithuanian Karaite family, being a gymnasia pupil took part in a revolutionary activity, the continuation of which resulted in his participation in a civil war in Spain. Later he took part in elimination of Trotsky; during the Second world war he was our fixed-post spy in Latin America and made a lot to frustrate supply of strategic cargo to the fascist Germany.

After the war, being a member of secret service, he "worked" as an ambassador of Costa-Rica in Italy and Jugoslavia, he was a "friendly" person in Vatican...

His extreme talents helped Grigulevich to expose himself and after he left intelligence. He has become one of the best native scientists-historians, the best expert on the problems of Latin America and catholic church, author of many books and articles, including the first biography of Ernesto Che Guevara and Salvador Allende in Russian.

It is necessary to specially point out, that the author of the biographic research followed in "the tracks of a fixed-post spy Arthur" in the countries of the Southern Cone, visited practically all the places connected with his intelligence activity, met some of Grigulevich's companions-in-arms. The authenticity and event-trigger richness of the book will inevitably attract the readers.

The book also presents interest by its artistic presentation. In particular, for its illustrations some of never published before pictures were used, including those from the files of the agent's daughter, Nadezhda Iosifovna.

The foreword to the book was written by a veteran of the Soviet intelligence service, expert in the history of special services and Latin America, professor of MSIIR Nikolay Leonov.

Contribution of Iosif Grigulevich into the success of our state is still very difficult to estimate at its true worth. The first serious attempt to do it is the offered to the reader book, written using a huge scope of previously unknown materials.
