Fifty years after the death of a remarkable woman Frida Kahlo, a hiding place has been found in her home-museum known as the Blue House! During the renovation works in private portion of the museum, the workers found a secret room. The museum workers revealed about 180 different items, among which were traditional Mexican dresses, of the sort worn by Kahlo, shawls, shoes, pre-Hispanic indigenous jewelry. In addition they found some photographs made by the painter's father Guillermo Kahlo – professional photographer. But the main jewel of the hiding place were a pair of earrings, believed to be a gift from Pablo Picasso.

Naturally the question arises – what was the need to make a hiding place? Frida Kahlo and her husband famous muralist Diego Rivera have been in the center of Mexican cultural life, and both of them, owing to their extraordinary nature, have always attracted attention of the society. The Rivera couple was encircled by numerous talks and fantasies. In her last months of life Frida was practically bed-ridden and that is why she ceased to be the absolute mistress of the Blue House. Other people kept the house – secretaries and assistants of Rivera. It is possible to assume, that Frida, with all the openness of her life, tried to protect her inner world and did not want other hands to touch or possess the things that were dear to her.

Just one example. According to Isolda Kahlo, niece of the painter, her mother Christina was not allowed to the house after the death of Frida, and only when Christina conveyed the wish of the deceased to do away with correspondence with Trotsky, such promise was given to her. However, this promise was never fulfilled: the letters of Trotsky many years later were found in the archives of Teresa Proenza, who was the secretary of Rivera and was considered to be a close friend of the painter.

According to the will of Rivera, founder of the home-museum of Frida Kahlo, all the artifacts belonging to the painter, should remain in the museum. It is expected that the sensational discoveries would be produced to the general public in a year.
