An exhibition called «My carnival» of Russian artist Yulia Romanova
In Moscow, an exhibition called «My carnival» of Russian artist Yulia Romanova was opened in the Colombian Embassy at the last day of February. In the series of multicoloured, festively picturesque, you may say, «smiling» works even the inexperienced spectator would feel that the artist praises not only the carnival activity, for her, most likely, it was a return to the favourite characters, symbols, colours and music of Latin America.

In 1990 Yu. Romanova for the first time visited the continent, at that, it was the country that can be called a quintessence of Latin America – Bolivia. For her, graduate of the Moscow art college, that meeting has become significant and for a long time determined her interest to the Latin American subject. «Diving» into a distant exotic life and culture resulted in her first personal exposition in the Museum of Man in Moscow in 1999. Portraits, landscapes, colours of Bolivia and unique in its originality Bolivian carnival for the first time drew attention of Russian spectators to the talented artist, who managed to bring to them the ecstatic images of the distant country.

Now we can surely say that art lovers associate the name of Yu. Romanova, first of all, with Latin America. The Colombian Embassy hosts her second exhibition, the first one («Dreams and reveries of Latin America») was held last year and enjoyed great success.

Miguel Santamaria Davila, the Ambassador of the Colombian Republic, opened the exhibition. Among the guests, present at the ceremony, were representatives of the diplomatic corps in Moscow, in particular, the Ambassador of Paraguay Marcial Bobadilla Guillen, the Ambassador of Panama Augusto Fabrega Donado and the Ambassador of Venezuela Alexis Navarro Rojas. The director of Institute of Latin America of RAS V.M. Davydov, chief editor of magazine «Doctor Tatiana» T.I. Kolesnikova, and, of course, numerous admirers of the talent of Yulia Romanova, including from Latin American colony in Moscow, were present at the opening day.
