A walk through the village of Xijiang (西江 - Xījiāng)

I wanted to come to the village of Xijiang solely because of its picturesque view. I learned about it by accident, having come across someone's pictures on Google Maps. The village immediately got into my top ten places where I wanted to go in China. And even though I just recently returned from there, I still would have liked to visit it again. It would be interesting to look at the Xijiang in the winter.
Guidebooks say that three ethnic Miao villages, being in the neighborhood grew together in this place. But I have come across online not so old pictures, which show how modern building were being constructed in the whole central part, so do not take it otherwise than as a tourist ethnovillage.
